My Fave TV Shows Part 1

NBWelcome,

Here we have one of my favourite topics: TV shows. Love ’em or hate ’em, there’s something out there for everyone to watch. Since I adore TV so much, I figured why not do a post about my fave TV shows? These are randomly ordered because choosing only one show for top spot would be near impossible. Lets begin!

Disclaimer: I’m watching all these shows on Netflix UK and there are some shows where I won’t be up to the latest season. Also, there are occasional spoilers. You have been warned.

Stranger Things

No major warnings to reports for this one other than some guts being ripped out occasionally.

At this point in time, I think it’s fair to say there’s not many people who haven’t heard of Stranger Things. If you haven’t let me introduce you. When a teen boy, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), goes missing in Hawkins, Indiana his family and friends start on a striking 80s adventure to find him. This show has so many elements that fill me with joy. For one, it’s set in the 80s, so the stagings, characters and costume almost perfectly depict the era. Also, the soundtrack… I have a strong affiliation with 80s music so it is an absolute winner and the creepy, sci-fi-esque theme tune is amazing.

You’ll easily get hooked on the shows crazy journey through the characters lives and Will’s disappearance. The first seasons focuses on the disappearance and the second season sheds light on the repercussions of the first. It is a cinematic masterpiece, especially during season 2 and the humour is perfect. Wow, this show is so exciting and before you know it, you’ve watched both seasons in one sitting. There’s only eight episodes per season which, in my opinion, actually makes the show better. It’s difficult to lose interest when there’s so much packed into such a short amount of time. Kudos to the actors and directors, they’ve all done an exceptional job throughout both seasons.

The Originals

*Warning*: Some jump scares, plenty of gore/death/violence and moderate sex scenes [they aren’t too bad, though].

This show is a spin-off from The Vampire Diaries [TVD – very popular show on CW that involves many kinds of supernatural creatures]. Unlike many other spin-off’s, this one doesn’t need it’s former show to back-up it’s story. In fact, you could watch this show without ever watching TVD and still understand everything that’s going on. Although, I would highly recommend watching TVD as well to see where it all began. Oh my gosh I’m beyond hooked on this show. The show tells the entire backstory of ‘The Original’ family of vampires. It doesn’t just involve vamps though as it involves basically every other supernatural creature there is – you know besides dragons, they haven’t quite gone that far.

Season 1 dragged a little at the beginning. Therefore, I wasn’t hooked from the word go. However, the more episodes I watched the better the show got. By Season 2, I was binge-watching episodes like there was no tomorrow. Honestly, seasons three and four emotionally drained me. That can only be a good thing, right? Try not to get as emotionally attached to the characters as I have unless you want to sob at the majority of the time. It’s nice to see that character development took a key role throughout all the seasons, I’ve loved seeing Klaus (Joseph Morgan) become a decent father figure for Hope. It is difficult to forget all the bad sh*t he’s done though, definitely a love/hate relationship with this guy. Again, the actors are amazing. It’s only real flaw is having too many episodes in a season curse; it isn’t a bad thing that season five is the last as taking the show any further really could have ruined it.

Pretty Little Liars

*Warning*: Show involves brief murder scenes, stalking, gore and of course, a whole lot of death. I’d suggest not watching it if these topics make you uncomfortable.

Teen mystery/drama based around five best friends, Hanna (Ashley Benson), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Aria (Lucy Hale) and Allison (Sasha Pieterse) that all share and hide far too many secrets. The show reveals the many secrets and lies they’ve told one another as they unravel in various sadistic ways with the help of the girls arch nemesis, ‘A’. Honestly, the whole ‘A’ situation was a surprise throughout including when ‘A’ had their big reveal in the final episode.

I binge watched season one in the span of three days. Surprisingly, I still remain hooked because the story has never stopped progressing. There’s still so much left to tell from all the characters. Again, this show often kills off characters so chances are any of your fave ones could die. No point sugar-coating it, sh*t happens. PLL definitely likes to confuse the hell out of it’s viewers. Just as you think you’ve got to the bottom of a story it’s like ‘lol no try again’ and you’re left like ‘what?’

There’s the odd filler episode that adds absolutely nothing to the show which is unfortunate. The season finale totally pissed me off. They left so much unanswered and there was an unnecessary amount of focus on the ships. God, I loved this show and the writers got lazy at the end and went for a total cop-out. I understand that may not be how others feel, but that’s how it felt to me. It still deserves a place in my fave shows list because I did love it for a long time.

One last thing…

I’ve split this post into two parts as I can literally go on forever about TV shows, oops. Part 2 will be coming very soon. Have any TV shows that you absolutely love? Or any that are the same as mine? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Luce xo
