So I’m back with another lip product review. This product has been heavily reviewed as *most* of us know and the majority rave about them. But it’s time to be more honest.
I made my trip the NYX counter in Boots, Newcastle with my hopes set high. These liquid lipsticks were the ‘in-thing’ and everyone in the beauty world was talking about them. I had to get my hands on one to give it a try! The price tag of £6.50 was good, too.
The shade I chose to buy is Exotic. It is a beautiful warm mahogany red shade and the pigmentation is great. So, they are not all as nude as NYX say they are but this is easily one of my favourite shades. The doe foot applicator was decent too; long but it helped for easier application. For the first half an hour or so, it does make your lips look “sexy” – as NYX claims it should. After that, well the situation takes a turn for the worst.
Initially, the lipstick looked smooth even if my lips were a tad sticky. I was impressed, but they did feel like they were drying my lips out considerably as the day went on. Their staying power is mediocre. After one meal, the lipstick literally started to crumble off my lips. It looked horrendous and made me feel a tad self-conscious. In the end, I had to wipe it all off and just apply lip balm. This was not what I expected or wanted from such a highly spoken of product. It was a let down. My lips suffered even more than they normally do after wearing matte lipstick. Please, if you do try this lipstick exfoliate and moisturise your lips as much as you can.
Gosh, NYX really had me going with this product. I was so excited to try it and now my hopes and dreams of it being a ‘perfect’ matte lipstick have been slashed. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t give them a try. They might work for you if your lips are not as dry as mine. I might have even bought from a faulty batch, who knows? However, I can not recommend them after the experience I have had. Sorry, NYX Lingerie you have lost me with this one.
Until next time,
